Dream Crushers…

As a dreamer and trailblazer I lend to the optimistic side of things. I am looking forward to the future. I am excited about this God idea for starting Hannah’s Hope and I have so much faith and belief in it. I did not realize how much subtle opposition I would face from the people around me that know of my dream or don’t know at all. Its in the “safety” statements (as I like to call them) people say that cause me to wonder if anyone believes in dreamers anymore?

I am not advocating for recklessness but I am advocating for the dreamer. I am advocating for the person with the next business idea that may seem crazy, I am advocating for the next invention that has yet to be created, I am advocating for the non-profits that have yet to come to life. I am advocating that we all try to support each other a little more. Trailblazers usually go first which means there are not very many people out there doing what we are doing. Truth be told, some people don’t like taking risks and that is okay but for the ones that do, let them jump and let them fall or soar. I promise we will be better for it. I wouldn’t be so eager to jump if the timing wasn’t right but now it is.

I get fired up when I see that I am surrounded by world changers who question themselves because someone has said, “You can’t do that” “You are not qualified enough to do that”. So to all my dream crushers…my question is WHY NOT? Why the heck not?

We can change the world. We can do things that impact our community. We can work for companies with a great cause. We can reach people and show them the love of Jesus. We CAN & We WILL.

My point is let the dreamers dream. Let us try, let us fail, let us succeed, let us soar. Not many are plagued with the desire to want more and to be more, while possessing ambition to accomplish their goal. Don’t stifle that passion, I beg of you.

If my mother was not supporting me the way she does, I would not be brave enough to see this dream through. We young people just need one person to believe in us, someone who believes we can break past barriers and fulfill our dream. (Disclaimer: I know trails and opposition will come that is apart of the deal. However I do believe we need to do a better job of actually believing in one another.)

I don’t expect the average person to be passionate about a dream that they don’t have a heart and vision for like me, but I do desire for us to cheer each other on and believe in one another; rather than trying to bring people “back to reality.”

What would this world be without the dreamers? I wouldn’t be typing on this MAC if Steve Jobs did not dream. I wouldn’t have an ipod, iphone, and ipad. They would have never existed if he listened to all his haters and gave up.
WALT DISNEY WAS TOLD A MOUSE WOULD NEVER WORK.
OPRAH WINFREY WAS FIRED FROM ONE OF HER FIRST JOBS BECAUSE SHE WAS “UNFIT FOR TV.”
J.K. ROWLING WAS ON WELFARE.
SIDNEY POITIER WAS TOLD TO BECOME A DISHWASHER.
STEVEN SPIELBERG GOT REJECTED FROM FILM SCHOOL … THREE TIMES.
MICHAEL JORDAN WAS CUT FROM HIS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TEAM.
HUGH JACKMAN GOT FIRED FROM 7-ELEVEN.

My friend told me to join the 30 days of hustle movement that Jon Acuff started. I am so glad I took her up on the offer. “30 Days of Hustle is based on one simple idea, Get Stuff Done. Turns out 98% of New Year’s Resolutions fail. Not this year. Using scientifically proven methods to knock out our goals, we will be collectively storming through 2014.” I began my hustle journey last week and joined the FB group where I can connect with fellow hustlers. This was the best thing that happened to me. This became my positivity realm. This was a space where instead of asking me 50389290382018 questions about how I will accomplish this dream, people simply said,

“that is awesome, I am cheering you on.” “You can do it. “”Women helping women, I love that.”

The group gathers together to share their goals wether its to lose 5 lbs, find a new job, write a book, or start a non-profit. This place is a safety zone for dreamers.

I have found a “safe” place to let loose and share my vision.

I am not turning around and I am not changing my mind.

God did not give me dreams so I would doubt if they could ever come to pass. He gave me dreams because he trusted that I would have faith to see them through.

  1. Yay, Faith! Your name suits you…the ability to see what has not yet been accomplished and trust that it will come to be! It will carry you through each step of the dreaming process. One of my favorite quotes is from Bon Jovi’s song, Have a Nice Day. Stand on the edge and show the world how to fly! Go stand on the edge and shows us how to fly!
